Artistic Director for Our Voice Milwaukee
Our Voice Milwaukee (OVM), a chorus for gay Men and Allies, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, seeks an artistic director for its upcoming concert seasons (October 2021 and beyond). In addition to conducting the OVM chorus, the artistic director provides the artistic and musical vision, leadership, inspiration, and technical and teaching skills needed to sustain and advance OVM's artistic excellence. OVM is a 9-1/2 year old, 20-member auditioned TTBB community chorus which performs a broad array of traditional choral music and contemporary favorites. The chorus is deeply rooted in the LGBTQ community and is a long- standing member of GALA Choruses, Inc. The choral director will work closely with the chorus president to achieve the mission of the organization: “Offering HARMONY in music to help inspire HARMONY in the community. OVM exists to provide a visible presence and a positive voice in and for the Wisconsin LGBT communities.”
The ideal candidate for the artistic director will have experience in directing and recruiting for an adult TTBB chorus; piano proficiency (preferred); ability to address vocal production and development; ability to manage artistic staff; experience conducting instrumental ensembles; availability to conduct the chorus; and willingness to work in close partnership with the chorus president, board of directors, membership committee, and artistic team.
Additional duties include ability to identify and develop collaboration opportunities with other musical groups, and attendance at outreach performances, donor events, and board meetings.
The start date is approximately October, 2021. Full chorus rehearsals are held on Monday evenings on the east side of Milwaukee, near the UWM Campus.
Contracted pay is $12,000.00 per 12 month year.

Artistic vision for OVM, given its mission and history (types of repertoire/concerts, choral sound, collaboration with other art/LGBTQ organizations, participation in choral festivals and tours, etc.)
Ability to collaborate productively with others, including staff/volunteers of community or non-profit organizations
Ability to lead, inspire, and recruit volunteer performers
Experience in selecting repertoire and programming concerts for choruses
Experience with the LGBTQ community/organizations and GALA choruses
